Shooting of inspirational film Water-Land-Schap 2.0, 2 March 2020, West-Flanders, director: Dominik Vanheusden

In the framework of the Blue Deal of the Flemish Government, a second call is launched within the programme Water+Land+Schap. This call looks for local coalitions that want to help formulate solutions for the drought problem, but also gives students, experts and knowledge centres the opportunity to test and multiply innovative drought measures in the field.

The Water+Land+Schap programme is part of the Open Space Platform and aims at solving problems with water in rural areas in an interconnected way. This is done in close cooperation with the users of the area such as farmers and businesses, residents and landscape managers.

AWB was one of the initiators of the first call Water+Land+Schap in 2017 that gathered more than 40 initiatives from which 14 local coalitions of farmers, authorities, businesses, residents and landscape managers were selected. Today, they are working together to make their environment climate-proof by tackling problems with water in an integrated way. In this way, they are working on stronger agriculture, sustainable water resources, good water quality and the collection of excess water. The first results are already visible on the ground!

More information about the Water+Land+Schap programme and the second call can be found at vlm.be. Be sure to take a look at the inspiration guide that AWB compiled together with the programme team and which bundles a number of reference projects and measures.
