Arnaud Mewis

Arnaud Mewis (°1997, Leuven) obtained his architecture degree in 2021, at the University of Hasselt. He combined his interests in social challenges as well as ecological questions into a graduation project, in which he designed a so-called ‘walk-in house’ for people in a precarious living situation. An unused hangar, situated on an industrial site on the outskirts of Hasselt, was transformed into a café area and an area for short-term housing. The ecological practice of the Landschaftspark was the leitmotif for handling the remaining industrial area.

Arnaud paused his studies for half a year to work as a design supervisor at the German University of Technology in Muscat, Oman. He has always had an interest in teaching, within and outside of the architectural domain. In 2022 he was also a jury member of the master studios at UHasselt.

After his studies, Arnaud worked as an architect for OSK-AR architecten, where he strongly focused on educational projects. Simultaneously, he commenced his studies in Philosophy at Vrije Universiteit Brussels. In 2023 he joined the team of Architecture Workroom Brussels, where he is currently focused on projects around social and ecological transitions.
