In order to meet the challenge of the next dry and wet seasons, we need to drastically transform our urban landscapes. The Flemish landscape is also not able to defuse a “water bomb” like the one that landed in the Maas and Demer valleys in the summer of 2021. That is why Flemish ministers Lydia Peeters and Zuhal Demir appointed Dutch Water Envoy Henk Ovink to chair a multidisciplinary panel that will formulate recommendations and actions for the Flemish Government to drastically increase water safety in Flanders.

Architecture Workroom Brussels was asked to sit on the panel (Joachim Declerck) as well as to support the chairman, VMM and the Flemish Waterways in making a realisation- and impact-oriented advice land.
