Imagine Europe— Bozar

Brussels as the productive capital of Europe. AWB presents this vision for the future along with Bas Bogaerts and Gijs Van Vaerenbergh, among others, in the 'Imagine Europe. In search of New Narratives' group exhibition, in which artists, thinkers, students and architects in 12 labs turn to their artistic imagination to seek answers to the challenges facing Europe. On display until 29 May in Bozar.

We must have dialogues, we must share our thoughts. We must be able to think together. If we can’t think together and talk together, then we can do nothing together.

—    David Bohm

"Imagine Europe. In Search of New Narratives" is the result of a long process and dialogue about Europe started in 2011 by BOZAR with a series of round table discussions between artists and politicians. Between 2013 and 2014, the European Parliament initiated the Pilot Project "New Narrative for Europe," an exchange platform challenging citizens to reflect on possible new narratives for the European project, new narratives in which culture and science occupy a central position.

Today with "Imagine Europe," BOZAR brings together new and existing artistic projects in order to open the scope to several new "Narratives." Artists are creators of images and stories. How do they address major European challenges? And how can they feed our imagination and inspire tomorrow's Europe?

« Imagine Europe » is an open invitation to share thoughts about Europe, as engaged citizens and, participants of an ongoing dialogue, in search of what joins us and of what we consider Europe to be. It is a contribution to the idea of what Europe is, should or could become.

In 12 Labs for Europe artists, students and architects present their own narratives. In Statements for Europe we probe different European citizens on their vision of the future of Europa. In the Discussion Room we invite organizations from all over Europe to gather and contribute to the construction of an ‘Europabild’. Everyone can engage and contribute freely via #EUNARRATIVE.

« Imagine Europe. In Search of New Narratives » is a coproduction between BOZAR and the European Commission, within the framework of the initiative “New Narrative for Europe”, a platform for exchange around ‘Europe’ as an idea.
