RESEARCH BY DESIGN
Within the framework of the IABR-Projectatelier Brussels 4 design teams have carried out Research By Design in the Brussels metropolitan region. Through design the the potential and needed spatial conditions are researched that are necessary to play a vital role in the development of productive neighbourhoods in the metropolitan area of Brussels, where living and working are interwoven in a qualitative way. In parallel the team of Fabric/Ulb/Circle Economy has researched through the analysis of the flows and the urban metabolism, the potential for a more circular economy in the metropolitan area of Brussels.
The 4 teams Plusoffice/Collectif WRKSHP, CENTRAL/Maxime Delvaux/Eva Le Roi, Spacelab.be and URA architects have focused on 7 sites in the region of Brussels and the Flemish border from the 19th century industrial fabric in Masui and Anderlecht to the mono-functional industry zone Weiveld in Zaventem. The researches have been stimulated by Urban Meetings in cultural settings where intermediary results where shared, knowledge was exchanged and (international) experts where invited. The whole process was constantly monitored by the Flemish and Brussels administrations and their representatives to ensure relevant and up-to-date results.
The final reports of teams Plusoffice architects and CENTRAL can be found below. The research can not be distributed or copied without permission. For more information contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
